Effects of Heavy Ion Particle Irradiation on Bone Metabolism of Rats at Different Ages

چکیده
INTRODUCTION In early studies it was observed that the effects of radiation such as X-, Gamma ray on bone growth were related on the age at exposure and to the radiation dose. Bone growth stunting by irradiation was more effective in the young and was more pronounced after higher radiation dose. Recently, heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba (HIMAC) in our institute was developed in order to treat a cancer therapy and while the fundamental researches on radiation biology including our interesting space radiation effects have been carried out. However, the effects of heavy ion particle irradiation on the body are not known because such researches have just started. The purpose of this present study was to clarify the dose-response and age-response on bone tissue and bone mineral density in rats with the heavy ion particle irradiation.

Bone Metabolism Damages by Heavy Ion Irradiation Locally to the Neck in Rats
INTRODUCTION Heavy ion particle radiation is interesting to know biological effects of space radiation. There are problems to assess the magnitude of radiation-induced damages in the astronauts. It is known that the bone minerals reduce after flight, the cause might be estimated by mainly microgravity. However, there are few studies on effects of heavy ion particle irradiation to bone metabolis...

Purpose: The aim of present study was to study the effects of low-level helium–neon laser irradiation on biomechanical properties of tibiae partial bone defect in streptozotocin–diabetic rat. Materials and Methods: Twenty male rats were used .Diabetes was induced in rats by one time intraperitoneal injection of 60 mg/kg streptozotocin .After one month ,under sterile conditions and general anes...
متن کاملProteomic Analysis Implicates Dominant Alterations of RNA Metabolism and the Proteasome Pathway in the Cellular Response to Carbon-Ion Irradiation
Radiotherapy with heavy ions is considered advantageous compared to irradiation with photons due to the characteristics of the Braggs peak and the high linear energy transfer (LET) value. To understand the mechanisms of cellular responses to different LET values and dosages of heavy ion radiation, we analyzed the proteomic profiles of mouse embryo fibroblast MEF cells exposed to two doses from ...
متن کاملCorrelation between lipid-lowering and bone-protective effects of eicosapentaenoic acid in rats with steroid-induced bone loss
This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between lipid-lowering and bone-protective effects of eicosapentaenoic acid on steroid-induced bonechanges in rats. Twenty-one male 10-week-old Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups (n = 7 each) and treated with 0.9% NaCl SC (group 1) or methylprednisolone 7 mg/kg SC once a week (group 2) or methylprednisolone 7 mg/kg SC once a week + eic...

For the future experiments at the new FAIR accelerator facility radiation damages to electronic components are an important issue. In this regard, the ASIC design group of the GSI Experiment Electronics department has launched a research project for the characterisation of Single Event Effects (SEE) on the 180 nm UMC process, including the development of an ASIC called GRISU[1]. SEE is the term...
